Adventure of a Life Time 2010

The Adventure of a Lifetime program at Minute Maid Park was one of the most unique events I've ever been to. The MC for the event was Giff Nielsen, he was entertaining and very articulate. The entire night was going to hold surprise after surprise. I'd expected to only have Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 speak. Not only were we privilege to him, but to an entire host of outstanding individuals.
This is a relative list of who spoke:

Rick Perry - Eagle Scout, and Governor of Texas!
Kay Bailey Hutchison - U.S. Senator (running for Governor)
John Cornyn - Eagle Scout and U.S. Senator
Giff Nielsen - Eagle Scout, former pro-football player and TV personality
Mike Rowe - Eagle Scout and Discovery Channel star from Dirty Jobs
Leo K. Thorsness - Oldest living Eagle Scout and Medal of Honor Recipient
Jim Lovell - Eagle Scout, Apollo 13 Commander ( "Houston, we have a problem")
Rex Tillerson - Eagle Scout and Chairman and CEO of Exxon Mobil
Drayton McLane - Houston Astros CEO (2 sons that are eagles)
Danny Olivas - NASA Astronaut and current cub scout master.
Joseph Csatari - The protege of Norman Rockwell
Harry E. Bovay, Jr - Eagle Scout, 84 years of scouting experience, and has Bovay Scout Ranch named after him. The evening was centered around honoring his name.
As each speaker got up, the thought, "No way-they're really here!?" came to mind. There was even a rumor that George Bush, Jr. was at the event, he just didn't speak. It was such a privilege to be in the same building as so many amazing people. It just reinforces what kind of caliber Scouters turn out to be.
Our Scouts were lucky enough to be able to sit together for the event (a big thank you to the Scout Master for organizing everything!). They really seemed to enjoy themselves, and what a wonderful oppurtunity for them to be in that building.

What a wonderful event it was for each boy to be part of-hopefully they'll remember it for the rest of their lives.
