Pine Wood Derby

What a great pine wood derby we had tonight! Congrats to everyone in our pack who earned some belt loops and advancements, you boys did great!

Here are the Cubs-front row seats and eagerly awaiting their chance to race!

There were so many great cars-everyone put in such hard work on them, and the paint jobs were oustanding.
This year we got to use a timed track, it was so fun to see the split second differences in some of the races!
Congrats to our winners! Great job, boys!

Visit to KSTAR Country 99.7

Do you know where the term "Disk Jockey" comes from?  A long, long time ago radio stations had a seperate music room.  Before they would play a song on the radio, they would have to run into the music room and grab the right record and bring it to the production/live sound room.  Because they were constantly running for disks, that's where the term "Disk Jockey" was born.  Thanks to Outlaw Chris, we now know this!
The boys really enjoyed the tour of Radio Station KSTAR Country 99.7 this afternoon in Conroe.  They got to meet two of their DJ's and see what it's like to work at a Radio Station.
The boys weren't sure what to expect when we got there, but quickly understood how the radio station is run after our amazing tour.  They even had a chance to go live with DJ Tim Towers!
When we asked how quick people called in for a prize, the DJ gave away tickets to the drive in right in front of us so we could see.  It was pretty amazing to see how quickly those callers won!  Next time you tr to win, realize it only takes about 25 seconds to get to caller 9... so give up after a minute!

Thanks to KSTAR for giving us a tour of their great studio! We had a great time and loved every minute!

Scout Fair Photos

Our Pack and Troop worked together for the 2010 SHAC Scout Fair at the Reliant arena. People estimate that over 24,000 people attended the Scout Fair this year. It was quite the success!

Bears and Webelos Info For Tonight

Just to make sure we get all the boys in the right place at the right time...

The Bears and Webelos will be meeting at Sister McPhie's house tonight to make spaghetti. If some boys need to be dropped off a little early, or picked up a little late that is totally alright. Sometimes shuffling kids between church and back can be crazy!

For directions, please call Sis. McPhie at 281-728-5856 or 281.292.1837

Bears and Webelos: Animal Facts

We created wonderful paintings of interesting animals last night! Look forward to pack meeting to see them displayed. But these paintings need a little more....

Please look up 3 facts about your animal at home this week. We will add it to our paintings next week in Den Meeting!

Cooking

Tonight the Bears and the Wolves met together so they could check off part of their cooking requirements! They boys had a great time discussing things that were healthy for them and things that were not. It was important to understand WHY certain things are not healthy (mostly because junk food contains too many calories and not enough nutrients) and why some are.
After that we went into the kitchen and let the boys make pudding. They had a great time reading the instructions by themselves, measuring and stirring. Now if you need pudding made you know who to ask. They also made their very own "trail" mix, consisting of marshmallows, cocoa puffs, M&M's, Gold Fish and pretzels. All healthy things, of course!
We are also happy to say that our visitor Wolf Cub has decided to join the Cub Scouts! Hooray!
