New Scout Info

Welcome to the Pack! We're very excited to have your son join us! Scouting is a wonderful program that encourages boys to develop strong morals and values and will send them on the adventure of a life time!

Your son will probably start in our pack as a Wolf Scout. The age groups are from eight-nine as a Wolf, nine-ten for a Bear, and Eleven for a Webelo.  Once they reach age twelve they move on to the Boy Scout program. Your son's age will determine which Den he belongs to.

Cub Scouting is an excellent way to teach your young son about important morals and values that will guide him through his life. He is going to need you to help earn the requirements in his book. Although there will be weekly Den meetings for him to attend, most of the requirements need the help of a parent. The first thing you will want to do is get your son a book and a uniform. Both can be purchased at any local Scout shop. The uniform is important because he will need to wear it every week. For uniform information, please click here.

It is important for parents to review what is in their books. The Cub Scout program is very family oriented, and you will notice that a lot of the requirements/activities for the boys have to do with individual and family tasks. Their first task is to complete the rank of Bobcat. This is something the parent or guardian should do with their son, and should be done before their first pack meeting. It helps prepare them for weekly Scout meetings.

The Wolf Scouts have several things they can earn:

Bobcat Rank (Must be done before anything else, receives a patch)
Wolf Rank (Must be done before earning arrow points, receives a patch)
Belt Loops (Can be done while working on Wolf, gets loops to wear on his Scout belt)
Pins (Can be done while working on Wolf, gets pins to wear on his shirt or sash)
Arrow points (Can only be earned after he earns the rank of Wolf, gets patches to wear on his shirt)

After the Cub scout works completes his Bobcat requirements he receives a badge to sew on his shirt. He can then work on the rest of the requirements in the book so he can earn the rank of Wolf. He should be able to earn that rank in around 4-6 months. We've designed our den meetings to cover one Wolf requirement a month, with other activities to include belt loops and arrow points. If you do not have a book but still want to get started, the requirements can be found online here. If you don't have a book, you'll want to figure out a way to help remember what you've worked on with your son. As you complete the requirements, please let your Den leader know. We hope this information helps! If you are feeling more lost-don't worry! that's what we're here for!!! Feel free to contact any of the Den leaders or our Cubmaster.
